This research was based on the following central question: How could corporate and philanthropic sectors best support public education?

The research involved:

• Desktop research on the main literature in the field;
• Desktop research on the directions taken by leading Governments around the world in this field;
• Desktop research on international activities in this field;
• Detailed analysis of the policies and practices in this field of 100 leading Australian companies;
• Consultation with selected Australian philanthropic organisations, businesses and non-profit organisations committed to supporting public education in Australia.

The research presented case studies detailing the range and types of current national and international models of support.
