Melbourne Cares
As the enabler and facilitator of corporate-community volunteering, Melbourne Cares (as a model) is committed to monitoring, measuring and evaluating its role in building community capacity and generating social capital. This innovative, and first of its kind evaluation, was conducted by Ernst and Young in collaboration with Social Compass. The evaluation of Melbourne Cares was founded on a set of specific capacity building and social capital indicators that were applied and fed back into Melbourne Cares and to the companies, community organisations and communities involved in the program. The evaluation established baseline measures, and over the process of two years, the set of indicators developed, will capture the tangible and intangible (financial and non-financial), direct and indirect outcomes of Melbourne Cares as a model and a program.
