Dr. Jehan Loza - Director Research
Jehan is the founder of Social Compass. She holds a PhD in Sociology (Deakin University). Prior to establishing Social Compass in 2004, Jehan worked as Post Doctoral Research Fellow in the Corporate Citizenship Research Unit, Deakin University and as researcher in the Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights, Deakin University.
Jehan has 10 years experience undertaking qualitative evaluation and research with a range of stakeholders from the corporate, government, academic and civil society organisation sectors. She has worked across diverse cultural and geographical contexts including with Indigenous communities. She has intimate knowledge of capacity building processes and has applied this knowledge both practically and theoretically in her work. Since 2000, her research interests have focused on the current issues facing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships and programs where she has worked on a variety of important research projects and industry reports for leading Australian companies, non-profit organisations and State and Federal Government. Jehan's experience means she is well informed on the current issues facing cross-sector collaboration and capacity building partnerships and programs aimed at social inclusiveness.

Dr. John Prince - Director EvaluationJohn holds a PhD in Sociology from Deakin University. He has spent over 15 years working in the non-profit, academic and business sectors. Most recently he has worked in both the Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights and the Corporate Citizenship Research Unit at Deakin University. During this time he worked on a wide range of projects where he applied qualitative and quantitative research skills to investigate dimensions of active citizenship, social capital, human rights and corporate social responsibility policies and practices. John has also lectured and chaired units in Social Research Methods and Theories of Social Change at Deakin University, Burwood. He has substantial knowledge and understanding of the role of civil society in social and economic development.
Prior to joining Social Compass in 2006, John worked with Transfield Services where he applied his knowledge in stakeholder identification, engagement and dialogue to develop sustainable community partnerships and to develop organisational specific community and impact assessment models.
John holds an Honorary Research Fellow Position in the Corporate Citizenship Research Unit, Deakin University, Melbourne. He also sits on the management committee of the Wyn Bay Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN).
Kerri Wellington
Kerri joined Social Compass in 2007 as the Company's research assistant. She provides support with undertaking community assessments and project evaluations. In 2006, she completed a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction at Deakin University, majoring in Sociology and Anthropology. Kerri has worked in both the private and public sectors.
Peter Nicholls - Communications Manager
Peter joined Social Compass in 2007 as the designer and editor of Community Business Review (CBR) http://www.socialcompass.com/index.cfm/cbr/ Peter has spent the last 6 years with the Corporate Citizenship Research Unit, Deakin University where he was responsible for the design and production of the Corporate Citizen Magazine. His background is in visual communications and copywriting and editing. He has a Bachelor of Visual Arts, a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing and a Diploma of Graphic Design.
